Marriages and Families
Our life is nothing without the relationships that we build and maintain on a daily basis. Semilla invests in marriages and families because they are:
- The context of transformation: Transformation happens in a cause-to-effect process of expanding, concentric circles. Our experience has shown that leaders whose marriages lack an ongoing dynamic of radical transformation by the Word of God are ultimately ineffective in transforming their families, their followers, their spheres of influence, and ultimately their culture by the Word of God.
- The heart of healthy relationships: Leadership couples often suffer from profound isolation and a lack of personal ministry to themselves. This is the effect of the insidious idolatry of a culture that places leaders on unrealistic pedestals of fame and adulation while requiring superhuman expectations. Living life under continuous critical scrutiny puts leaders’ marriages and families under extreme pressure with few outlets for transparency and vulnerability.
- The bond that keeps leaders united: We have found that what they most need is the friendship of another leadership couple who is discreet, spiritually mature, and relationally whole. We engage in face-to-face, high-caliber exchanges that allow root issues to emerge, for them as individuals and for their family. Together, we inevitably discover presuppositions, Biblical principles or other transformational experiences that provide needed breakthroughs at a radically fundamental level.
- The exponential effect for transformation: Leadership couples take hold and run with whatever they learn and experience. They always pass it on to others. Therefore any strategic investment in a leadership couple, particularly when crystallized into universally applicable principles, will pay multiplied dividends in the marriages and families of the people they lead. This in turn has a clearly exponential effect on the transformation of the culture of the continent.
